Where did Reiki come from?
Dr. Mikao Usui: 1865 - 1926
Dr Mikao Usui was born in Japan and is the founder of the Usui System of Reiki or Usui Shiki Ryoho. Usui was interested in different types of medicine, energy movement and religions, reading widely on all subjects. Usui was looking to find a way to heal him and others, using his hands, that didn't deplete his own energy levels and he devoted many years searching for a system. His open minded approach towards other belief systems and religions is why Reiki is accessible to everyone. It has no religious attachments.
What does "Reiki" mean?
Let us look at the word Reiki itself. The first books about Reiki in English translated the two Japanese Kanji or pictograms that represent the word as meaning "universal life energy." The Rei was thought to signify "universal, transcendental spirit, or boundless essence." The Ki represents "life force energy," and is equivalent to Chi or Prana in its quality. It would seem, however, that a more accurate translation is "sacred energy." and that the word is simply a respectful way of referring to Ki. Reiki is not some energy that is separate to the basic Ki of the universe--- it is the basic Ki.
Reiki can be as easy as laying your hands on a person with the intention of healing. With just the intention of healing Reiki Energy will begin flowing automatically. There is so much more to Reiki and its delivery.
Reiki combines very effectively with massage. The hands can channel the energy while also delivering the massage.
REIKI can NEVER cause harm.
Reiki is always helpful and ALWAYS safe, because reiki comes from Universal light and love and is guided from that and not the practitioner. The healer is NOT in danger of taking on the karma of the client. This also allows the EGO to stay out of the way and let Spiritual Consciousness do all the work. Reiki raisesers the vibratory level in and around the physical body where the negative thought and feelings are attached. Reiki energy causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. Reiki works in harmony with other medical care. It can be used in conjunction with medical treatment.
ROSWELL is now allowing reiki to be given to their patients in conjunction with other treatments to help heal.
Reiki is only allowed to be practiced by someone who is attuned by a Reiki master. I currently am certified and working on becoming a master myself.
